Jamstix is an advanced virtual drummer software that allows creating grooves with dedicated style and drummer modeling. It features an in-depth drummer limb simulation, including triangulation of hand movements, as well as power and timing variations to play ahead, on or behind the beat.
The full and commercial version comes with 70 styles (rock, funk, Afro-Cuban, blues, jazz, electronica, Brazilian, breakbeat, country, R&B, Motown and many more) and 17 human drummer models, expandable via future Paks.
The free Jamstix 4 is a stripped down version with limited stock kits and reduced velocity layers, fewer number of styles and player models. Also, the MIDI export/drag-&-drop and some 3D-Kit appearance controls are disabled. But still remains a playable and interesting instrument for you to pair with a MIDI controller (don’t forget to enable “MIDI Play in Jam” from “General Options”, otherwise you won’t hear any sound while pressing the controller key/pad).
Jamstix 4 free version is available as instant download (no email sign-up) and supports VST(32/64 bit) and AAX 64-bit plugin formats. The installation goes through Jamstix4 Manager, there you will choose the version and library path.
